GOODBYE MY OLD PORT GALLERY FRIENDS & THANK YOU ALL!
Dear friends,
This post is a bit late… it short of got lost in the move but better late than never!!! LOL!
Francine and I have met so many wonderful people since we opened our gallery 12 years ago at 367 Rue St-Paul Est. As we prepare to move to 49A Donegani in Pointe-Claire, we want to express our deep appreciation to some of the incredible individuals who helped make our time in Old Montreal such a success.
First, a huge shoutout to FARD, our landlord, owned by Fred Shahrabani and his family. Fred has been the best landlord I’ve encountered in my 47 years with Rideau and during our 12 years on St-Paul. He, along with his siblings Danny and Rosie, supported us through St-Paul’s road closures, COVID, and so many other challenges. Their team at FARD—Julia, Shlomo, Bart, and others over the years—were always responsive, no matter how big or small the issue. If anyone is looking for space in the Old Port call Fred! He can be reached at 1.514.344.3453 or fredatwork@yahoo.com.
We also want to thank Raphaël Creton, owner of La Cave à Manger across the street. Raphaël has catered many of our events and, without a doubt, makes the best croissants in Montreal! He’s been a great friend over the years, and it has been a joy to watch his business grow. (And yes, his TikTok clips are awesome too!) Raphaël can be reached at 1.514.419.2355 or https://lacaveamanger.ca/.
I first met Loïc Pravaz at an Accueil Bonneau event held in our gallery. He’s a very talented photographer and has been our “official” gallery photographer since 2013. Recently, Loïc opened his own studio and continues to grow his business. You can reach him at loic@pravaz.ca.
I’ve known J.C. Torchia since the early 1980s, when he was a Venture Scout and I was the Group Committee Chairman of our local Scouting group. His late father, Armand Torchia, was a legend in the advertising world. Today, J.C., along with his siblings Michèle and Danny, runs the firm, which has supported both Rideau and the gallery with many of our public relations efforts. If you’re looking for a great PR firm, reach out to J.C. at 1.514.288.8290 Ext. 251 or jc@torchiacom.com.
I would also like to say thank you to the team at SDC Vieux-Montréal which is headed up by Mario Lafrance. Over the years, Mario and his entire team have done their very best to promote our gallery, indeed, all the merchants in the Old Port. I’m grateful for their support. You can visit their website at https://sdcvieuxmontreal.com/
A heartfelt thank you to all my friends at Accueil Bonneau—Soeur Nicole, Fiona Crossling, Natalie Ross, Mounira Taleb, and many others—who work tirelessly to help those living on the streets of Montreal. I’m proud of the work we’ve done together over the years: hosting fundraisers in our gallery, leading workshops both at Accueil Bonneau and in my studio, and serving on their Board of Directors for five years. More recently, they became our very first “Art for a Cause” partner. Through this program, you can donate 30% of a painting’s value directly to Accueil Bonneau and receive a tax receipt. The gallery then bills the remaining 70% plus GST and shipping, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. For more details contact the gallery at 1.514.856.6325. Or, you can support them directly at https://www.jedonneenligne.org/fondationaccueilbonneau/CA/
Finally, Francine and I along with our team, want to say a huge thank you to all of those who have collected my art over the past 12 years—and to the tens of thousands who simply visited our gallery.
We look forward to welcoming you at our new location in the Valois Shopping Center, 49A Donegani, Pointe-Claire.
Let the happiness continue there!
DERNIER AUREVOIR ET MERCI À TOUS!
Cher ami.e.s,
